My name is Kathy Simms and I would like to welcome you to Enchante Briards.
To tell you a little about myself, I grew up with dogs, mainly collies. When I got married we did our share of rescue and our first dogs were mixed breeds from the shelter. We've also had a Siberian Husky and a Poodle and then got The German Shepherd.
Thats where it all began. I had a great mentor in Riccardo Wright of Stonehead Dog Ranch, who taught me about temperament, structure, and his method of dog training. I started working my dogs in Obedience, a little Conformation, worked for other dog trainers and eventually opened my own dog training business. I became a breeder of German Shepherds, known for having healthy dogs with good temperament.
In the German Shepherd world it was imperative to have a handler in the breed ring and thats where I was introduced to Briards. My handler had shepherds but also had begun getting into the Briards. When we went to the shows, we always stopped by the Briard ring to watch them. I got to know some of the Briard people and their dogs. Later, when my handler had her first Briard litter, I took home a puppy.
I had my first Briard and never looked back. That was 21 years ago. I started showing her myself and got her championship, then her obedience title, then we worked in agility. She was just ready to start competing when I bred her and never got back into it. We also did our share of sheep herding and again, she was ready to compete but I started showing her off-spring instead.
Sunshine, Ch Noire Virage Femme Fatale, CGC, HC, CD, VT, was my first Briard, my foundation bitch and the start of the Enchante line. She gave me the BEST of herself and wonderful sons and daughters to carry on the line. She was my girl and I will never forget her.
I hope you enjoy this web site and invite you to check out some of our dogs.
